Students & Youth

For most young people choosing a career path can be confusing and scary. It does not have to be this way. We are here to help you to look at the alternatives by giving you information on where to start researching. Finding a career can be just like buying a mobile phone; you need to do some research and try a few before you really settle on one, and even then, you might upgrade and change models or brands every few years! You would not buy a new mobile before you did some research on the net, asked friends, had a look at a few in a shop and even tried out a few friend’s phones to see how they look and feel.

When you are thinking about what kind of work you might like to do, you need to think about what you are good at, what you like doing and then link that with possible career paths. There are a number of links below that can give you information about jobs and what they are like. The Job Guide lists thousands of jobs and describes what they do and what skills you need. Try it on line on the link in the previous sentence or below, or contact DEEWR. If you would like to obtain a hard copy. The Bullseye booklets are also helpful as they list school subjects and link them to different jobs.

If you are a VET student about to do Workplacement please see our section on Workplacement preparation for some tips.

If you need more help than these links provides, please give us a call on 9822 9370 or send us an email.
